🎆 Songs of the Year #1: The top 22 Songs for '22, as picked by the Steel Orca team.
✨ Best Songs of 2022: Featuring a bunch of songs that were made before 2022
Happy New Year’s Eve, and welcome to the first edition of the Steel Orca Songs of the Year.

We decided a few weeks ago that a year-end post is necessary for the Steel Orca, even though we started this newsletter only in September of this year. As such, we’ve created a playlist with our favourite songs we found this year and a gallery of the best pictures from Clara Beth this year.
Please note that these are the best songs and pictures based on our posting during 2022, not that they necessarily came out (in the case of the songs) or were taken (in the case of the photos) during the 2022 calendar year. We might change things up next year, but until then, enjoy, and best wishes for 2023.
Songs of the Year
Here are the songs of the year for 2022 🏔️.
▶️ Youtube Music: Songs of the Year #1
As I said above, this playlist breaks down pretty simple this week. These are the Steel Orca’s favourite songs we found during the last calendar year (since we started posting). Please let us know our thoughts on the selections in the comments. If you want something a little longer to play for your New Year’s Eve party, I suggest listening to our consolidated playlist Admin Login (also linked at the bottom of every weekly post).

This song was originally posted as the Song of the Week for October 1-7, 2022 (our third Songs of the Week post):
In my opinion this song is a masterpiece. This has been on repeat for me all week. I just blasted this in a 2016 Kia Soul and it shredded.
This song is all about the drums. The drums were played live (I haven’t looked it up but I’m assuming that based on the fills and sound) and based on a quick review of their live shows seems like live drums is a regular thing. The drum breakdown starts at around 3:20 and my favorite part is around 3:35 (I know very specific) when it’s a snare fill to a bass drum fill. It sounds sick and I imagine this song would be super fun to play for the drummer.
Based on the picture above, the sound, and the live drums, seems like Kodak to Graph would be a hella fun show to see, plus it’s so weird and seemingly obscure that you get serious hipster points. Then when you look up their Instagram you realize that this is a seriously artistic group. They are the real deal. They are definitely one of my new favorites to the point of wanting to buy a t-shirt or something but I looked and they seemingly don’t have any for sale.
I’m not sure this will be a popular choice, but this was by far my favourite song that I discovered this year. Here’s hoping we can find similar gems in a full year of posting for 2023.

That’s it for this week from all of us here at the Steel Orca.✔️👋
